The Kiwanis Club of Spring Hill

The name KIWANIS means "we trade" or "we share our talents." It was coined from an American Indian expression, Nunc Kee-wanis. Kiwanians are volunteers changing the world through service to children and communities. Kiwanis members help shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, mentor the disadvantaged, and care for the sick. They develop youth as leaders, build playgrounds, raise funds for pediatric research, and much more. No problem is too big or too small. Why? Because working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. When you give a child a chance to learn, gain experience, dream, and succeed, great things happen.

Now in its forty-first year, the Kiwanis Club of Spring Hill Club has actively served the Hernando County community since its inception. The Club has historically provided the community with exemplary projects and programs that have influenced residents to take a more active role in community affairs and greater involvement with the Hernando County Public School System.

Programs that the Club supports include:

Bring Up Grades (BUG) program              Kid's Super Triath;lon        Barney's Kids

Reading is Fundamental (RIF) program   Key Club - (High School)

Builders Club (Middle School)      K-Kids - (Elementary School)

Projects that the Club is involved in include:

Pancake Breakfast with Santa        Big Brothers and Big Sisters

Golf Tournament for Kids                Foster Children of Hernando County

Boys and Girls Club                       Eckerd Youth Academy

Relay for Life                                 Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind

The Kiwanis Club of Spring Hill is a service organization dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. The Club meets every Tuesday at Noon at the Pasco-Hernando Community College, 450 Beverly Court, Building B, Spring Hill, Florida. A wide variety of business and professionals are dedicated to helping kids and the community through charitable events and volunteerism. All interested in joining a worthy cause and a terrific group of poeople should get involved.
