DIRECTIONS TO HUNTERS LAKE BOAT RAMP
From U.S. 19, turn onto Spring Hill Drive and go about a 1/4 mile West to the traffic light at the 7-11 and then go South onto Kenlake Avenue for about a 1/4 mile and follow the signs to the lake.
Located in Hernando County right off Kenlake Avenue, close to the Little Red Schoolhouse Library, the Hunters Lake Boat Ramp has been open for a fairly long time now.
But, what can you expect when you get there?
As the sign says, it’s open 24 hours, there’s a nice size parking lot and, the ramp appears to be in acceptable condition.
The channel in and around the ramp area and back a couple hundred feet looks to be cleared well enough to accommodate two lanes of smaller boats.
Just how cleared out the heavy vegetation is along the channel depends entirely on the boat traffic. It’s about a 1/4 mile in the channel before you make your way to the lake.
Check out our video of the channel from the ramp out to the lake and then you can decide for yourself if this is the place for you or not.

I didn't even know this existed, living in Weeki Wachee, I had no idea. Whats the boat traffic in open water? Is the ramp a busy location? How is the parking for boat trailers? Just curious in case I come down that way and check it - Thanks!
The boat traffic on the lake is very low so, the ramp is not at all busy, even on the weekends. There is plenty of parking for cars and boat trailers.
Next time we will be taking a look at the condition of the lake and, where you can or can not go.
